After breakfast, we’ll head to the pretty town of Leiden by coach. Here, a local guide will accompany us on a walking tour, taking in many of the city’s highlights. This atmospheric university city boasts countless museums, canals, and ‘hofjes’ – or inner courtyards. As you will be visiting Leiden in spring, you will find yourself in the centre of the flower-bulb region!
After some free time for lunch at leisure, we head to Hortus Botanicus, the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands. This amazing garden has a large collection of plant species from Asia, Southern Europe and South Africa. This is where Carolus Clusius grew Europe’s first big tulip collections. We enjoy entrance and a guided tour here, with free time to explore before returning to our hotel by coach.

See The Hague from a completely different perspective on our included canal cruise this morning. The canals of The Hague date back to the 14th century, and during the cruise, you’ll hear stories about the Hague, the Royal City and the City of Peace and Justice. The remainder of the day is free to explore The Hague, which is a pleasant seaside town with parks, squares, gardens, and plenty of excellent museums.
You could also visit Delft, which is famous for its blue and white ceramics. The centre is a delight to explore with its tiled houses, canals and bridges.
We gather tonight for a farewell meal at the hotel.
